ALPINE, OKI, and Runcom Disclosing at CES-Las Vegas the World’s First WiMAX Compatible Navigation System for Vehicles

CES-Las Vegas/USA– January 6th, 2008:
Alpine Electronics, Inc. and Oki Electric Industry, Co., Ltd., the leading Japanese electronic equipment manufacturer joined forces with Runcom Technologies Ltd, the pioneer in OFDMA® enabling technologies for Mobile WiMAX. The three companies will demonstrate the world’s first car navigation system with streaming content based on Mobile WiMAX technology at Runcom’s booth (Sands 72702) at International CES 2008 in Las Vegas from January 7th to 10th.

The companies worked closely for the past several months to develop a Mobile WiMAX in-vehicle navigation system with embedded broadband wireless communications capabilities to enable the system to upload information such as road maps, attractions, near by events and additional Location Based Services, to report car maintenance status and failures and many other broadband IP applications.
